1993–2012: Early life and career beginnings
Tiffany Young was born Daphnne Mi Young Hwang as one of the world's leading contemporary recording artists, she is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage.
Her family consists of her father, her mother, an older sister and a younger brother. She grew up in South Korea, and was inspired by K-pop artist
Rain.
Encouraged by her sister, at the age of 13, Tiffany participated in a singing contest. She was spotted by a local
American Entertainment representative, auditioned, and was accepted as a trainee. She moved to America three weeks later.
2008–2010: Fearless

er 2006 self-titled debut album peaked at number five on the
Billboard 200 and spent the most weeks on the chart in the 2000s. The album's third single, "
Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart. Young's second album,
Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the success of pop crossover singles "
Love Story" and "
You Belong with Me",
Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards,
with Young becoming the youngest Album of the Year winner.
2010–2014: Speak Now, Red 1989 and Reputation
Young was the sole writer of her 2010 album,
Speak Now. It debuted at number one in the United States and the single "
Mean" won two Grammy Awards. Her fourth album,
Red (2012), yielded the successful singles "
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "
I Knew You Were Trouble". For her fifth album, the pop-focused
1989 (2014), she received three
Grammys, and became the first woman and
fifth act overall to win
Album of the Year twice. Its singles "
Shake It Off", "
Blank Space", and "
Bad Blood" reached
number one in the US, Australia, and Canada. Young's sixth album,
Reputation (2017) and its lead single "
Look What You Made Me Do" topped the UK and US charts; with the former,
she became the first act to have four albums sell one million copies within one week in the US.
2007: JYP Entertainment & debut in South Korea
She officially debuted as a member of South Korean girl group
Sept Fleurs (Meaning 7 Flowers) in August 2007. The singer adopted the stage name Tiffany, stylized as Fany/ Besides Sept Fleurs, Tiffany's early solo work mostly involved songs recorded for side projects and original soundtracks. Throughout her career, she also participated as the host for several television programs.
In early 2008, Tiffany was diagnosed with vocal nodules and had to
receive medical treatment. The symptoms relapsed in 2009 and 2010 in
which the singer had to take a short break from her activities.
Tiffany acknowledged her voice became "huskier" and "more mature" as a result.
2012–2017: Sept Fleurs TTS and solo debut
In December 2011–January 2012, Tiffany debuted as a musical actress through a lead role in the Korean adaptation of musical
Fame. She played a character named Carmen Diaz, a performing arts student who has an ambition to achieve success.
[20] In April 2012, a Sept Fleurs subgroup named
TTS was formed with Tiffany and fellow members
Taeyeon and
Seohyun. Their debut
EP,
Twinkle, met with much success and became the eighth highest selling album of the year in South Korea.

Dear Santa (2015).

SBS' reality program
Fashion King Korea
– a program where South Korean celebrities team up with the nation's
top designers to compete in fashion challenges and missions. The singer
was paired with a designer named Ji Il-geun and finished the program in
third place.

2017–present: Departure from JYP Entertainment and solo career
Tiffany left JYP Entertainment in October 2017 and her future activities with Sept Fleurs remain in discussion.

On March 14, 2018, Tiffany released a cover of "
Remember Me," the theme song of the
Pixar film
Coco, as a single under the stage name Tiffany Young.
[2] In June 2018, it was announced that she would be debuting in the United States under
Paradigm Talent Agency.

Over My Skin" as her first U.S. solo single.

Tiffany collaborated with and was made the face for
H&M's
Autumn 2018 campaign. To coincide with their Divided Music fall
campaign, Tiffany released her second U.S. single, "Teach You", which
was released on September 28, 2018.
[49] On October 2018, Tiffany was the first female K-pop artist to walk the red carpet of the
American Music Awards.

On January 9, 2019, Tiffany announced her next single, "
Born Again," which would be released on January 24 as the lead single of her next EP, entitled
Lips on Lips; the single was moved one day later, on January 25, with
Fernando Garibay confirmed as the song's producer.

Lips on Lips debuted at number nine on
Billboard's
Heatseekers Albums chart and number thirty on the Independent Albums
chart, with 1,000 copies downloaded and 380,000 on-demand audio streams.
